Population is a resource in Iron Harvest which limits the amount of units that can be under the control of a single player at the same time. Instead of beeing a resource, that is beeing produced by buildings, every player has a population cap, which determines how many units a player can have. When a unit is build it consumes a part of the free population a player has. This part is freed again when the unit is destroyed. The Population Cap can be increased by:
- Building a barracks
- Building a workshop
- Upgrading the barracks
- Upgrading the workshop
It is worth to notice, that the population is only increased once for each of these actions. So building two barracks does only increase the Population Cap once. Therefore the highest possible population cap is reached by having a upgraded barracks and an upgraded workshop at the same time. Losing a building decreases the population cap to the level it would be without having built/upgraded the proper building.
