Soldiers using exosuits built with cutting edge technology. Wield powerful portable rail guns.
The TF-233 "Šetač" are heavy infantry units produced by Tesla's Factory but also fielded by Fenris. These soldiers use advanced mechanical exoskeletons with long legs and powerful handheld railguns.
They appear in the Iron Harvest "Shadow over Europa" campaign for the first and last Rusviet missions.
General Description[]
The horrors of the Great War took its toll on the entire world, but seeing his machines as the source of much of the suffering, Nikola Tesla felt no less affected. Although he withdrew from the world, it became clear that even with the War's scars so fresh on Europa outside forces would strive to take the factory's secrets for themselves. Thus, Tesla conceded that the Factory would need more firepower than just its static defenses to secure the facility. These soldiers are more than double the height of a person thanks to the exosuits they wear utilizing stilt-like legs. An advanced power unit is mounted on their back, and the user is protected by plates of armor, a helmet, and a gasmask with glowing eyepieces. Their Fenris counterparts are nearly identical but eschew railguns for conventional firearms and with orange glowing parts instead of teal.
Of all exosuit infantry, these piloted mechanical wonders have great ranged firepower that deals heavy damage to lightly armored and unarmored units. They have a decent range and the rounds from their railguns are accurate and nearly impossible to dodge.
They are, however, relatively fragile and quite slow. Powerful explosive weapons like the SHM-86 "Kolokol's" grenades will bring them down quickly and their light armor does not stand up well to focused fire from massed infantry. They serve best as supporting fire for tankier units like the TF-987 "čuvar."
Currently these units cannot be built by any playable faction.
Trivia[]
- The word "Šetač" translates to "Walker" in Serbian.
- Fenris has their own variant of the Šetač.
- While the weapon is called a "railgun," the lack of rails with a round barrel and banks of capacitors actually indicates them to more likely be coilguns.
- While also being electromagnetic artillery, coilguns use completely different designs and underlying physical principles than railguns.
- The Šetač are quite similar to the Tallboys seen within Dishonored, walking on stilts and being a sort of heavy infantry unit.
- In Iron Harvest, a captured Šetač is used to reverse engineer the technology that would be used on Viktor Pupov's battle suit and life support system.
- Also in Iron Harvest, like most of Tesla's tech, these suits have built-in self destruct systems to prevent the above from happening although in said case a soldier was killed before they could activate it, resulting in their suit's capture.
